OptFORESTS postdoc researcher position at INRAE

INRAE seeks a postdoctoral researcher for the OptFORESTS project, focusing on forest genetic diversity, using simulations to develop sustainable strategies. Requires a PhD in genetics, bioinformatics, and R programming.

INRAE, the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the OptFORESTS project (2022-2027). The position is based at the INRAE Val de Loire Centre in Orléans, France, within the BioForA Joint Research Unit, which focuses on the development of sustainable forest management strategies in response to climate change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use simulation tools (AlphaSimR and MoBPS) to compare strategies for managing forest genetic diversity and improving genetic gain.

• Develop strategies based on species-specific ecological, environmental, and economic contexts in collaboration with European partners.

• Ensure all research processes are reproducible, traceable, and well-documented.

• Contribute to scientific publications and collaborate with bioinformaticians to maintain methodological rigor.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in genetics, quantitative genetics, population genetics, or a related field.

• Desired skills: experience in plant breeding, genetic improvement, programming in R, bioinformatics, and familiarity with Linux environments and computer clusters.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
