In the context of increasing climate change impacts, the resilience of forest ecosystems has emerged as a critical priority for European decision-makers. Forests not only play a key role in climate change mitigation by sequestering carbon, but also support a wide range of industries and communities through wood-based value chains. However, increasing climatic disturbances, such as fires, storms and pests, put these valuable natural and economic resources at risk.
To address these challenges, the RESONATE Final Policy Workshop will be held on 10 February 2025 in Brussels. This event will bring together policy makers, forestry experts and industry representatives to explore practical and research-based solutions to strengthen the resilience of Europe's forests. Key themes of the workshop include: managing the risk of disturbances and adapting to climate change, the role of biodiversity in forest resilience and the opportunities offered by the bioeconomy for more sustainable value chains.
The event aims not only to present new knowledge, but also to foster a dialogue between sectors to develop policy recommendations aligned with current and future demands. Jointly organised by EFI, the InnovaWood network and Prospex Institute, this workshop will be held in parallel to the EFI-ERIAFF Forest Innovation Workshop (11-12 February 2025).
